Daffodils are almost fool proof. Plant them
once and forget about them for a magnificent
display every spring. Choose a well drained
site for your bulbs and see BULBS page
for planting instructions. |
 |
Feeding bulbs is usually unnecessary. Watering
well as the first shoots appear and again
after flowering - this is when next years
flowers are being set - is the best food
you can give them, and it's FREE. |
 |
Dead headding daffodils is encouraged if
you want to promote bulb multiplication.
DO NOT tie back daffodil foliage, as this
inhibits the flow of nutrients to the
bulb. Leave the foliage on for 4-6 weeks,
then mow off or cut back as desired. |
 |
Daffodils can be grown in pots - for 1 year
only. Return bulbs to garden after this.
Look for shorter varieties that don't
require staking in a pot. |
 |
Daffodil juice is toxic. We advise the wearing
of gloves if picking quantities. Ensure
you wash your hands after picking and
avoid contact with face. |

Naturalising daffodils is a cheap and effective
way to create a spring spectacle. See
David Bell Daffodils, New Zealand, for
all your daffodil requirements. |
